Biography

Yash Sarkango is a postdoctoral researcher studying Jupiter's magnetosphere and its interaction with the Galilean satellites. He completed his Ph.D. thesis at the University of Michigan, where he developed a global magnetohydrodynamics model of Jupiter's magnetosphere and studied its response to changing solar wind conditions. To study magnetic reconnection in the Jovian magnetotail, he analyzed data from the magnetometer, Waves instrument, and JEDI energetic particle detectors on board the Juno spacecraft. His current research interest is to study distributions of particles within Jupiter's inner magnetosphere and their implications on satellite-magnetosphere interactions.
