March 27, 2025

Yan Liang, who is in her final year of the Astrophysical Sciences Ph.D. program, has been selected as a 51 Pegasi b Fellow in Planetary Astronomy by the Heising-Simons Foundation.  “The 51 Pegasi b Fellowship recognizes early-career investigators of significant potential and provides them with the opportunity to conduct independent research in planetary astronomy, which brings together research efforts of two fields—planetary science and astronomy—to characterize planetary systems.”

Liang’s research will take place at Yale University where she will be “training artificial intelligence to find an Earth twin across vast data archives by circumventing interference from stellar activity.”

To learn more about Liang’s research visit the The Heising-Simons Foundation website.

Congratulations, Yan!
