The cover story of the September 2022 issue of the Princeton Alumni Weekly describes the James Webb Space Telescope and its connections to the Princeton astrophysics community. The article quotes many department members past and present.
Tea Temim, a research astronomer who joined Princeton last year but previously worked on the JWST MIRI team at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, will use the Webb telescope to study the Crab Nebula.
Robel Geda, a second-year Princeton graduate student, wrote software and visualization tools when he was working at STScI, which will help astronomers understand the data received from JWST. Discussing the launch, Geda says, “It was like a home run. It was one of the best days of my life, I have to say.”
