
Marcus Dupont, Lyman Spitzer Jr. Postdoctoral Fellow & Future Faculty in the Physical Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences, was awarded the 2025 Dissertation Prize by the High Energy Astrophysics Division of the American Astronomical Society. The dissertation prize, awarded every 12-18 months, recognizes "an outstanding doctoral dissertation in high-energy astrophysics”.
The citation reads: “The 2025 Dissertation Prize is awarded to Dr. Marcus DuPont for discovering novel explosion geometries and computing their dynamics and observational signatures as high energy astrophysical transients, using his original publicly-released heterogeneous GPU-enabled relativistic magnetohydrodynamics code ‘Simbi’.” Marcus’ dissertation was completed at New York University.
