Astrophysicist David Spergel Selected to Chair the NASA Team Studying Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

David Spergel, Emeritus Professor of Astrophysical Sciences, Emeritus Charles A. Young Professor of Astronomy, past Chair of the Department of Astrophysical Sciences, and president of the Simons Foundation,   has been selected by NASA to chair an independent sixteen-member study team researching unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).  The study will begin on October 24, 2022, and will spend nine months identifying "how data gathered by civilian government entities, commercial data, and data from other sources can potentially be analyzed to shed light on UAPs.”  The report from this committee will be released to the public in mid-2023.  Read the NASA announcement here.
